213
“213” explores the concept of maintaining the essence of a human as they cross over into the virtual space. Using traditional 2D frame-by-frame animation, Genefer projects a virtual figure which appears to dance from the physical charcoal drawing. Altogether, the animation contains 212 individual digital drawings, making the original charcoal piece, the 213th drawing.
“213” was developed for the digital art exhibition, “Virtual Primitivism”.
VP explores the belief in the value of what is simple, unsophisticated, and raw within the virtual space. It embodies the early stages of development of things not physically existing, and made digitally by humans.
In the beautiful San Vigilio’s castle, “Gruppo di lavoro San Vigilio”, overlooking the city of Bergamo, viewers get a closer look into the Italian digital art scene. These creatives export digital art to the city of Bergamo, in hopes of bringing change to the traditionally led media that overflows Italy.
